| Purpose: Whereas Maths 1 introduced prospective teachers to broad issues related to the identification and teaching of core concepts in Mathematics, Maths 2 focuses on the in-depth teaching of a particular concept - fractions. On completion of the Maths elective, prospective teachers will have not only developed a clearer pedagogic content knowledge base that would be useful to any teacher, they will also be better placed to decide whether they would like to specialise in mathematics teaching in any subsequent pre-service teaching qualification. |
