Purpose: The purpose of the module is to equip students with an informed knowledge of the purpose and principles of environmental education in diverse South African contexts as well as globally. The module explores environmental issues from social, biophysical, economic, and political perspectives. Students learn to integrate active learning about, in, and for the environment into the school curriculum. It supports the development of critical and reflective teaching practices. The module aligns with SDGs 4, 13, and 15 by promoting environmental literacy and sustainable thinking. It provides a foundation for teaching and further study in environmental education.
