Purpose statement:
The primary goal is to enable working professionals from various agricultural disciplines to undertake advanced reflection and development using a systematic current thinking, practice and research methods in the area of specialisation. The qualification demands a high level of theoretical engagement and intellectual independence. The curriculum includes research methodology and a project under supervision. Postgraduate Diploma in Agriculture is a non-professional qualification which will serve to strengthen and deepen learner knowledge in the field of agriculture.
This qualification contains modules with work-integrated learning and practical components, which will require you to spend time away from your home and responsibilities, to gain the required industry exposure through applying your theoretical understanding in a workplace. You will be expected to complete tasks which will reflect your experience and skills gained while in the workplace. These tasks will be formally assessed and grades awarded.
Please note:
 An  Advanced  Diploma  in  Animal  Health  (or  equivalent  appropriate  NQF  7  qualification)  from  an  accredited  provider  of  higher  education  with  a  minimum  of  60%  average  pass  mark  for  the  majors  (including  animal  diseases,  epidemiology  and  veterinary  public  health),  or  a  selected  number  of  NQF  7  modules  in  the  qualification,  
or  
applicants  who  do  not  meet  the  admission  requirements  as  indicated  above  may  apply  for  admission  through  recognition  of  prior  learning  (RPL)  provided  they  are  at  least  30  years  old  with  a  minimum  of  five  years'  current,  relevant  working  and  research  experience  in  line  with  the  approved  qualification's  RPL  requirements. The  motivation  must  incorporate  the  following:
*  academic  motivation  offering  evidence  of  your  ability  to  study  a  postgraduate  qualification,
*  work  experience  relevant  to  the  qualification  and  courses  completed  since  graduating  with  a  Bachelor's  degree  or  Advanced  Diploma.  
These  appeals  will  only  be  considered  if  the  enrolment  target  of  the  qualification  has  not  been  met  and/or  additional  enrolment  spaces  are  available.
