Purpose: Qualifying students will be able to understand how technology has developed over time, explore the ways technology impacts their daily home and work lives, discover how to choose and prepare for a career in technology. They would be able to examine the role of the web in daily life, explore the components of websites, webpages, and e-commerce and learn how to search the web to find information that one can trust. Students would be able to learn about the many different types of computer hardware, different types of operating systems, how an operating system works to help their computer or device function. Explore methods to personalize their operating system and program settings to increase their productivity. How to manage their files and folders they store on their computer or other devices so that they can access them easily. Understand the different types of apps and how they are used in their personal and work life. Different types of computer security attacks that occur and how they can protect their computers, other devices and personal information. Students will get to understand personal health risks that come from using a computer or smartphone. Students will be able to understand how digital media represents the real world on a device such as a display screen or speaker. How HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can describe the content, appearance, and behavior of webpage. The key features of connected networks and explore how connections between networks are made and how to develop an online presence that adheres to standard internet etiquette guidelines to help ensure their safety and enhance their employability.
