The University of South Africa recently participated in an Open Day activity hosted by Eskom at its Medupi Power Station in Lephalale, Limpopo. Delivered under the theme, "Elevate human capital from operations to business impact," the event enabled Unisa to promote its qualifications, services, research capabilities and related activities amongst employees, especially for programmes linked to the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET) and the Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL).

Unisa’s team comprised representatives from the North Eastern Region, SBL and CSET.

Thozama Gangi, General Manager at the Medupi Power Station, reminded participants that human capital is built on the three Ps: people, plant, and processes. She also touched on the expectations placed on employees to contribute to organisational success, hence the need for effective information sharing to enable them to understand organisational developments.

Echoing Gangi's remarks, her colleague, Philemon Mononyane, emphasised the importance of continued collaboration and continuous learning.

"Together we can make a difference and learn from each other."

Unisa's exhibition stands were a hive of activity with interaction between various Eskom staff and the Unisa team. Unisans shared the institution's diverse academic offerings, professional development programmes and support services to enable Eskom’s workforce to make informed decisions on their individual career aspirations.
