Student Success Coaching (SSC) at Unisa is aligned with the university’s Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) model and forms a core component of Unisa’s holistic student support strategy. SSC plays a critical role in strengthening students’ academic, social, and emotional readiness as they transition into higher education, particularly within a distance-learning environment. The programme supports students in developing personal clarity, effective learning strategies, and a sense of belonging which are key factors for thriving in an ODeL context.
SSC focuses on empowering students to enhance their self-awareness, strengthen self-regulation, and adopt productive study and engagement habits. By helping students identify their purpose, strengths, values, and interests, the programme fosters both academic confidence and personal resilience. The coaching process further promotes meaningful engagement with the broader university community, enabling students to navigate the demands of distance learning with greater support, direction and connection.

All coaching activities take place online via Microsoft Teams, ensuring accessibility and convenience for students regardless of location.
