The College of Graduate Studies is offering a tailor-made “Postgraduate Academic Writing Programme”. At the CGS, we are committed to postgraduate pedagogical excellence, and we strive to respond to the support needs of our students. This programme was developed to assist our postgraduate students with the academic writing competencies that are needed to excel in their research journeys.
Students will benefit optimally from the course if they attend all sessions.
This programme consists of 12 sessions, divided into 3 blocks. Below we list the topics for each session. These sessions are open to all registered master's and doctoral students.

Session 5: From Paragraphs to Chapters: Structuring Extended Arguments in Theses and Dissertations
Session 6: Writing with Sources: Integrating Literature, Theory and Evidence
Session 7: Writing with Clarity and Precision: Refining Academic Style at Postgraduate Level
Session 8: Revising for Argument and Choherence: Advanced Editing Strategies
Session 9: Writing Through Feedback: Responding to Supervisors and Examiners
Session 10: Finalising the Text: Writing for Examination and Publication Readiness
Session 11: Becoming Your Own Critical Reader: Self-Editing and Peer Review in Academic Writing
