Prof Wendy Setlalentoa
Full Professor in Science Education and
Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor: Teaching &
Learning at the Central University of
Technology, Free State.

Wendy Setlalentoa is a Full Professor in Science Education. Her research interests reside in Educational Leadership, Teaching Innovation, Reflective Practice and Natural Sciences Education. Over an academic career spanning more than four decades, she has remained committed to advancing quality teaching and learning through innovative, reflective, and contextually responsive pedagogical practices.

Her work foregrounds the cardinality of reflective practice in enhancing curriculum relevance, strengthening leadership, and improving student success within a rapidly evolving digital and yet inclusive sustainable education landscape. This contributes to the development of inclusive and future-focused learning environments that respond to both local and global educational challenges.

Professor Setlalentoa has contributed to the academic community through publications in accredited journals and conference proceedings.  She has also served as a reviewer for the National Research Foundation (NRF) and, notably, as guest editor for several accredited scholarly journals, guiding the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed research that continues to influence Education, She conceptualised and co-founded the Journal of Humanities, Education and Technological Innovation (JOHETI), hosted in the Faculty of Humanities and currently in the process of DHET accreditation, providing a platform for both emerging and established scholars to publish impactful research.

She is substantively a Dean in the Faculty of Humanities and is currently serving as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning at the Central University of Technology, Free State. In this portfolio, she provides strategic leadership in academic quality, curriculum innovation, and institutional transformation aimed at shaping forward-looking, inclusive, and future-ready higher education systems
