Radical Healing in Communities team hosts a photo-exhibition which explores Nana’s Farm residents’ relationship with the land through the Psycho-politics of Land project

Rebel. Revolt. Revive: Reflections on Decoloniality on the Ground and in Action

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) College of Humanities hosted a Decoloniality Winter School, held from 21 to 24 July 2025, which was guided by the theme “Decolonial Rebellions and Movements: Reviving Communities of Knowledge and Praxis in Times of Genocide.” The event brought together academics from institutions across Africa, civil society organisations including Abahlali BaseMjondolo, trade union leaders, grassroots communities from Potchefstroom, and cultural workers such as poets and artists.

Black Planetary Studies Water Traditions Symposium

The Centre of Excellence for Black Planetary Studies (CoE for BPS) hosted the Water Traditions Symposium in Mzamba, Eastern Cape, from 15 to 16 April 2025. This stimulating symposium invited local and international academics, practitioners, activists, and doctoral students along the Amadiba Wild Coast to engage in practices of deep learning and meditations on the indigenous and scientific knowledge that we hold about the ocean.

UNISA’s ISHS and Imbumbe Yabafazi celebrate Women’s Day 2024 with the third collaborative installment of their event titled Shaping Our Future

On the eve of Women’s Day which is celebrated across the nation, Unisa’s Institute for Social and Health Sciences (ISHS) together with community outreach unit Imbumbe Yabazi, hosted the third annual  Shaping Our Future event. This year’s theme was Healing our Women – Healing our World. Continuing the tradition of highlighting the dynamic work done in several low-income communities in Region G, women from these communities together with guest speakers from near and far gathered in the spirit of healing and ubuntu to share their stories, encourage one another in song and praise and strengthen networks.
