Dr Bernice McLean
Marine policy specialist

Bernice McLean is a marine policy specialist with a strong interest in sustainable fisheries management and aquaculture development. She has worked with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) since 2016 and is currently leading the Blue Economy Unit in the Agriculture, Food Systems and Environmental Sustainability Directorate.

Her role includes providing technical support to AU Member States, Regional Bodies and other stakeholders in areas of Blue Economy development. This includes also developing and implementing key flagship initiatives with the aim of generating wealth, creating income opportunities and showcasing learning and innovation in key sectors.
